How many people can fit on the WaterMat lake toy?
We're not sure. We've seen as many as fifteen, but we ran out of kids. We've never seen anyone sink a WaterMat with too many people. We can tell you the WaterMat is tested up to 1500 pounds and the WaterMat Plus up to 1800 pounds. Maybe someday there will be a World Record for the most people ever on a WaterMat...see how many YOU can get on your WaterMat and send us a photo for our website!
What is the difference between the standard, Plus, and Junior?
The standard WaterMat is 6 feet wide and 20 feet long, 1 ¼” thick 2 ply foam, weighs 33 pounds, and will support 1500 pounds in the water. It is recommended for all types of family fun.
The WaterMat Plus will support even more weight because it has an extra layer of foam. It is 6 feet wide and 20 feet long, 2” thick 3 ply foam, weighs 47 pounds, and will support 1800 pounds in the water. It is highly recommended if the WaterMat will be used in any commercial setting or will get a lot of use by several people.
The WaterMat Junior is designed for small children under 70 pounds. It is 6 feet wide but only ten feet long, 1 ¼” thick 2 ply foam, weighs only 17 pounds, but will not support as much weight because of the shorter length. It is recommended for small children. Remember children under six should always wear a US Coast Guard approved flotation device while playing on the WaterMat.
How do you make the WaterMat?
The WaterMat product line has evolved dramatically since its original conception. We have tinkered with the foam composition, overall dimensions and design of the WaterMat over the past five years to produce fun, safe, durable, easy-to-maintain, and no-hassle water toys specifically for a marine application. We are proud to manufacture each of the WaterMat lake toys right here in the USA.
Jeepers...seems pricey?!
WaterMats are the most affordable, multi-person lake toy on the market (if you doubt us, go shop for a water trampoline or other inflatable water toy). There is no other water toy that provides as much no-hassle fun as the WaterMat lake toys. Well, maybe a rubber-ducky.
Dads love all of the WaterMats because they can just lug one to the water, unroll it, and presto...the kids are having fun and they can go take a nap. Moms love WaterMat products because they are safe, there are no hard edges, and their kids are content inventing games on the WaterMat for hours at a time. Kids love WaterMats because they are just plain fun! They can slip, they can slide, they can run, they can jump, or they can just hang out. And we are sure young adults will find lots of fun ways to use the WaterMat.
How do I know which one is for me?
Each WaterMat is well suited for kids of all ages and sizes, so you really can’t go wrong. If your kids are bigger or you expect a large number of kids, perhaps the three-ply WaterMat Plus is the product of choice. The two-ply standard WaterMat is easier to roll-up and move around the lake, so the partying Cove set might find the standard WaterMat the way to go. New for 2010, the WaterMat Junior is our most economical version and perfect for smaller kids.
I want one...how can I get one!?
Just click on one of our green "Buy Now" buttons and place your order securely on-line. Typically, your new WaterMat will ship within two business days after you place your order. Depending on where you live, you should receive your WaterMat within four to six business days after it is shipped. So you can be enjoying your new lake toy within a week!
How do I maintain my WaterMat?
One of the beauties of WaterMats is that they are each super easy to maintain. There's nothing to inflate (therefore, nothing to patch) and there is no assembly. Just unroll your WaterMat and play! If your WaterMat gets a bit scummy or if a bird poops on it, just gently wipe it off with a soft sponge. At the end of the season, simply take your WaterMat out of the water, wipe it down, hose it off and roll it back up after it has dried thoroughly. It is that easy!
Can I tow my WaterMat behind my boat?
Absolutely NOT! Do NOT tow your WaterMat. En Espanol: iNO!
As fun as it may look to tow a bunch of people on the WaterMat, they are NOT designed for towing. Towing any WaterMat behind any kind of water craft or boat voids the warranty.
What about a warranty?
All WaterMats have a limited one year warranty from the date of purchase. DO NOT use a knife to open the box and be sure to inspect the box and WaterMat before accepting delivery.
Can I leave the WaterMat out all night?
Some WaterMat owners actually leave their product on the lake all season long. However, we've re-designed the WaterMat to make it lighter and more portable so that it is easier to remove from the water or to transport on your boat or pontoon. Although there is no need to take in your WaterMat at night, if you intend to leave your WaterMat in place unattended, it is strongly recommended that you mark it with your own highly-visible buoy, well out of the way of boat traffic.
NOTE: If storms with heavy winds are expected, it is recommended that you remove your WaterMat from the water so it does not become the flying WaterMat! Common sense dictates that you never play on the WaterMat floating lake toy during any storm.
How is the best way to anchor my WaterMat?
Each WaterMat comes with a bungee-cord tethering system. All you need to do is to connect the tethering system to your own anchor or mooring. Some customers simply tie a length of rope to a cinder block that serves as their anchor. Make sure your WaterMat is unencumbered to drift safely with the changing winds and always make sure your WaterMat floating water toy is a safe distance from any hard surface, such as a dock or underwater obstruction.
NOTE: your WaterMat should always lie flat in the water...please DO NOT fasten your WaterMat so that the attachment line is above the WaterMat, potentially lifting the end up, off the surface of the water.
Will sharp objects puncture my WaterMat?
The WaterMat is a durable product, but the soft foam is not indestructible and care should be taken not to expose it to hard, sharp, projecting objects or edges, especially when storing for long periods of time. Sharp objects (bottle caps, nails, dog claws, jewelry, swimsuit ornamentation, etc) might scuff or slightly tear the foam surface (but they will never deflate the WaterMat!). These minor surface abrasions in no way affect the fun, safety or buoyancy of the WaterMat. It is not recommended for use by dogs as their claws may cause surface damage.
How do I roll the darn thing up?
Rolling up the WaterMat takes two able bodies, but three makes it a snap. Simply start at one end (it doesn't matter which side is "up") and curl the edge as tightly as possible. Starting the initial tuck is the most difficult; then it's like rolling down a hill. As you roll the WaterMat, keep pace with your partner so that the edges are straight and you don't "make a cone." Once the WaterMat is rolled up, wrap the Velcro strap (that came with shipping) around it and throw it on your boat or pontoon. It's that simple...and you can take your WaterMat anywhere around the lake!
Does the WaterMat come in different sizes?
The WaterMat comes in three fun sizes. Our most popular version, the standard WaterMat is six feet wide and twenty feet long, made of two-ply foam. Our WaterMat Plus is a 50% thicker three-ply version, and therefore, is half again as buoyant but shares the same dimensions. Our newest product, the WaterMat Junior, is two-ply foam, six feet wide but only ten feet long for smaller kids. Over the years, we have tinkered with different sizes, dimensions and thicknesses to arrive at an optimal balance between buoyancy and ability to easily handle the WaterMat. There's actually a fair amount of physics and engineering in this seemingly simple product.
Will the WaterMat fit on my boat?
The WaterMat is the ideal boat or pontoon accessory, extending your play and sunning area by 120 square feet! As you motor about the lake to the Cove or Sand Bar scene, simply roll your WaterMat up and stow on deck. The standard WaterMat easily rolls to about a 24 inch diameter and is six feet wide. Weighing less than forty pounds wet or dry, it is easy for two people to put it on deck...and, once you arrive at your destination, it takes just seconds to roll it out on the water for a safe, no hassle day of party fun in the sun.
